Cooke City Hotels

Further east along the northern border of Yellowstone National Park is Cooke City, a way station for travelers and tourists consisting of a few hotels, motels, lodges and casual restaurants. Like Gardiner (about 60 miles west), the town is entirely devoted to Park visitors anxious to avoid the bustle and expenses of nearby resort towns. But it still makes the most of its proximity to the park, and in peak season even the motels can run higher than average. However, you may have more luck finding a room here at the last minute, as it is less trafficked than many of its neighbors to the east. A good option for winter-sports enthusiasts and anyone else who doesn't want to camp but doesn't crave luxury.
