Old Faithful Inn

The quintessential park lodge, built in 1904, Old Faithful Inn attracts the lion’s share of tourists. And it’s no wonder: from the rustic lobby it’s just a short walk to the geyser itself, and the falls, mudpots, and thermal phenomena that surround it. The high points are all outside though; the Inn has a near-monopoly on guests thanks to its prime location and historic charm--so there’s not much incentive for good maintenance or good service.

What's Good
The Old Faithful Inn is a National Historic Landmark, with enormous fireplaces, balconies and windows for viewing that other landmark, the Old Faithful geyser, just a few yards away.

What Could be Improved.
The service, the food, the cleanliness... reviewers complain about nearly every aspect of the place, and then add: You gotta go. Nothing beats Old Faithful.
